Since a PC is more compact and complex than, lets say a car, the tools you need are just a bit different, and they are smaller. Let’s see, you are going to need a common (flat) screwdriver and Phillips screwdriver, tweezers or hemostats to grab and pull out small things on the motherboard. You will also want to have a 3/16-inch nut driver and ¼-inch nut driver so that you do not round those tiny nuts that hold your cables into the tower frame.
If you are a perfectionist, you will want to keep the inside of your PC tower free of dust. You can do that by using a low-pressure blower, which can be purchased at your local PC outlet store, it’s a can air sold for this purpose. As far as hand tools are concerned, that’s about all you are going to need for what you are going to be change on you PC, at least until you have mastered the art of minor hardware R&R (remove & replace).
Working on PC also requires a different type of tool(s), these tools called Diagnostics software. If you are a professional computer repair person, you will have tools such as Utilities and other gadgets that actively search your PC’s motherboard and other hardware and software. However, Microsoft has incorporated some of the essentials into your Windows Operating System.
If you want to find these tools go to your Start button and click on it. Now find the Programs button and click on that. Scroll up to the Accessories button and click on that. Do you see the System Tools button? Click on that! There you will find some very helpful tools such as, Defragmenter.
If you go on the internet very much you will know where I am going with this… now after about a month of going on the internet does your PC seem to get slower? NO you don’t need a new PC, try to Defragment your system.
It takes some time to do and may seem like a waste of time, but when your system is Defragmented, it should get faster. You see, your PC’s hard-drive is made up of sectors and these sectors store data. All the data is arranged in a random order and requires the hard-drive to store data this way. Now that is really all you need to know about the storage process, except that data sometimes gets separated when you delete files from your Windows Desktop. It is for that reason you must Defragment you system. Simply put, you are putting the data on your hard-drive back to the its best order it can be in… look its sort of like putting files in a file cabinet.
I’ve seen some people put things in order so that everything is orderly, and I’ve seen people put file in a file cabinet so that nobody can find anything. This is what happens to your hard-drive, Defragmenter just puts it in order so the system can find what it needs quickly.
