So you go on the internet and that is all you really use your PC for, other than a paper weight, well you are not alone there. The internet is fun and you can get a lot of great buys these days, but there are a lot of diverse people out there and that diversity is not always a friendly sort. Like I said earlier, we all got to make a living some how and some people (these days) are making a living out of taking what belongs to you without you even knowing it. COOKIES! No I’m not talking about Pillsbury… COOKIES are not all bad.
One positive thing that COOKIES do is store data on you hard-drive so that that data does not have to be retrieved each and every time you enter a Website. There is a way to set you system to allow only those COOKIES in which you feel are trustworthy. A negative aspect of COOKIES is that given the chance, these COOKIES can build up in your hard-drive and slow your entire system down. If you allow your COOKIES to build up to this point, it may be time to cultivate the crop. This is not a major operation, so take a deep breath and focus. Go to the Start button and click on it. Find the Programs button and click on it. Find the button called Windows Explorer and click on it. Find something that says C: and hit the [+] and watch it open up. Now go down to the item that says Windows… and click on the [+]. You’ll see another bunch of words pop up. Now find the Word Cookies and open that up by clicking on it. There some of your COOKIES, go on and delete them. Its ok, any item that you should not delete will be questioned by the system and just say no to that particular COOKIE.
NOT done yet… once that is done scroll down to a word “Temp” and
“Temporary Internet Files”. Once you get into these folders, you will see thousands of things in there that clog up you system and to my knowledge is how the clever hacker(s) gain access into your PC and all your private information you have sorted on your PC. There is a Software Program that can be purchased that will do this for you, however, I have always been of the opinion that if you want it done right… do it yourself. The choice is yours, make it a good one!
